The 83rd Time: The DEM Series’ Footprints
Summary[]
Tokiwa’s parents and his friend have escaped their followers for the time being. His mother uses this chance to give her “son” a hug. Haruka yells at her that Kanata is not her son either. Kanata however returns the hug and calls her mommy. When Haruka scolds him he replied that he did it, because he does not have a mother. Tokiwa’s mother explains that she only saw her son from above via surveillance satellite. Tokiwa’s father asks if his son is going well which prompts Haruka to angrily tell him that he should be talking to his son himself. Mrs. Yasaka finally understands that the two boys are her son’s friends and thanks them for taking care of him.
Mr. Yasaka turns to leave. Haruka tries to stop them, since they haven’t met Tokiwa yet, but his father replied that visiting their son is not their main objective. The two were members of a team that developed the DEM series. Mrs. Yasaka explains further that the prototype of the DEM series, DEM I, is being kept in the facilities in front of them, and that they have to meet DEM I no matter what it takes.
Two of Enigma’s robots that were guarding the facilities attack them, but Haruka and Kanata destroy them within seconds. Tokiwa’s parents are shocked to find out that their son’s friends are able the use “Shin” – the energy of the mind. Haruka and Kanata have no idea what Tokiwa’s mother is talking about, especially when she accuses them to belong to one of the groups that want to open that gate. Haruka replies that he has many questions to ask them.
Tokiwa and Rein are still looking for the robots that had been reported to Yōi Post. Machina points out that all passers-by around them are robots disguised as humans. When Enigma’s drones shoot rockets at them Tokiwa decides to use a technique he has seen himself use in one of his missions. After they have defeated the remaining robots, Machina spots DEM II’s mark on a wall. When Tokiwa touches the mark it begins to glow and he and Rein are engulfed in a bright light which causes their bodies to disappear.

Trivia[]
- Lighter were invented before matches.
- Because the north and south pole are too cold for germs, one cannot catch a cold there. (Rein already mention this particular information in an earlier chapter)
